Caolan Kelly lauded the praise on teammate Michael Murphy following Glenswilly’s 3-19 to 2-6 win over Killybegs at Ballybofey.
Murphy captained Ireland to a 57-35 win over Australia in the first Test of the International Rules Series on Saturday and then produced a man of the match performance for Glenswilly yesterday as they sealed the RTE Raidio na Gaeltachta SFC for the second time in three years.
“What can you say about him that hasn’t already been said?” Kelly, who kicked a fine point in the first half, queried after the presentation of the Dr Maguire.
“Personally, I thought he might only play 10 or 15 minutes against Australia but he played most of the game and was brilliant. Michael steps up for us all of the time and was definitely man of the match.
“There’s one thing that people from outside of the club don’t understand about Michael is that Glenswilly is his heart.
“Michael Murphy - you should see him in changing rooms and behind closed doors. He’s a leader. You can see why he is captain of his country and captain of his county. Whenever the pressure mounts, Michael just steps up to the mark. He was brilliant t.”here again.”
