Much of the credit for this victory must go to manager Jamesie Donnelly and selector Eamon McAuley for instilling discipline and belief in this young team. These players’ commitment, work ethic
The U-12 hurlers had an emphatic win in their League Final against Carndonagh in Mac Cumhaill Park last week. The Mac Cumhaills mid-field of Josh McGhee and Joel Bradley Walsh dominated from the throw in. With only minutes gone, Mac Cumhaills were 2 points up.This was quickly followed by points from Joel Bradley-Walsh, Dylan Crossan and Josh Mc Ghee and some excellent frees won and converted by Tommy-Lee Scully.
The home side entered the half-time break comfortably ahead. Carndonagh started the second half a bit brighter, getting the first score of the half with a well taken free, which was followed up by a long range point from play. The resultant puck out was well won by Eoghan Gillespie, who rounded his man and soloed the sliotar 30 meters down field. Although the sliotar was lost in the tackle, it was quickly recycled and converted into another Mac Cumhaills point. The Mac Cumhaills boys were determined to see the contest out from this point, taking points from distance, seemingly at will and netting a further number of times.
The excellent hurling skills of the home team, allied with their immense work rate and manly hurling meant that victory in this contest was never in doubt. Congratulations to this team of skilled and hard working boys.
The third team had a fine win over Glenswilly.
