Milford produced a fine second half showing to see off Robert Emmetts in the Junior A championship semi-final in Convoy.
Robert Emmetts 0-8
Nigel Black’s side turned a 0-6 to 0-4 interval disadvantage into five-point win with Christopher Barrett scoring six points from play.
Robert Emmetts had started well, with Mark Lafferty firing over their first three points and Simon McMenamin putting them 0-4 to 0-2 up.
Cathal McGettigan and David Curley levelled things up but the Castlefin side went in at the break two points up thanks to frees from John McLaughlin and Lafferty.
Milford, though, started the second half as they meant to go on and grasped contro.
And as well as knocking over a succession of points they were not far off a goal when PJ Hagan steered just wide following a break forward from TJ Evisson and Barrett drove just over when shooting for goal.
Robert Emmetts were under increasing levels of pressure but did create a goal chance or two themselves .
However, Dean McBrearty punched just wide when he had stooped low and then Chris Bryson’s shot at goal was well saved by Caolan McGettigan. But when Paddy Dooher was given a straight red for hacking down Lorcan Friel that was the end of Emmets.
Milford, through David Curley, Cathal McGettigan and Barrett were good value for their win to book their place in the final.
This time 12 months ago they were knocked out at the semi-final stage by neighbours and rivals Downings. Now, it’s Urris that stand in the way of those from Moyle View.
