Donegal Minor Ladies simply had no answers for Dublin in their All-Ireland Minor Championship semi-final meeting in Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday.
The Leinster champions, who had swept before them on their way to winning Leinster, were lethal in front of the posts and hit Donegal for five of their goals in the opening 15 minutes.
Despite this Donegal battled bravely to the finish and with Amber Barrett sharp in front of the Dublin goals, Donegal hit 3-6 of their own. Barrett was Donegal’s standout player scored the bulk of the Donegal tally.
This was a disappointing result for Donegal and their manager Ann Marie Gibbons, but they should take some solace from the fact that the Dubs ran up big scores in all their games in the campaign so far and are odd-on favourites to win the All-Ireland.
The bulk of the Donegal squad are underage again next year.
