Dramatic finish sees Donegal get the better of Galway

Donegal are through to the quarter finals of the TG4 All Ireland championship following a thrilling victory over Galway in Longford this afternoon.

Donegal 3-15

Galway 4-11

Donegal had just a point to spare over the Connaught champions with Yvonne McMonagle knocking over a free right at the finish to seal a remarkable win.

It brought an end to a highly entertaining tie which was close all the way.

McMonagle top scored for Michael Naughton's Donegal, scoring 1-8 of her team's total.

Amber Barrett scored two penalties for a Donegal side who were missing a number of regulars.

Donegal led at half time by four points, 2-8 to 1-7 with the first half goals from Barrett and McMonagle.

Barrett scored her second penalty in the second half as the tie remained in the balance.

But after wins for the minor and senior mens teams in Croke Park on Saturday, McMonagle made sure of another Donegal success with a late winning score.
