Families urged to "Make 1 Change"

A new year initiative is underway to get parents of national school children to commit to making “one small change” for the year ahead to benefit their children.

Initially launched in the Educate Together School in Letterkenny three years a go, this new year there is over 100 national schools signed up to help spread the word of this years event.

The 2016 “Make 1 Change” campaign is an initiative of the Parent Hub Donegal, which asks parents to make one small change to improve family life as part of their new year resolutions.

One parent who took part  last year said of their experience: “This has helped us to re-evaluate our time and made us realize that we had not been spending as much time together. As with most families today, having access to computers and TV etc, we forgot what it was like to bring things back to basics and start baking together and going for walks.”

The aim of the campaign is to highlight the importance of family life and keeping the lines of communication open with young people.  All families taking part are entered into a free draw for prizes including a three month family membership for Aura Leisure Centre, passes for Century Cinema, vouchers for Arena Seven and entrance to Tropical World.
