Well-known Letterkenny man Paddy Delap will be honoured by Letterkenny Town Council tonight to mark his significant contribution to charity over the last two decades.

The civic reception will take place in the Town Council Chamber in Letterkenny Public Services Centre this evening (Thursday) at 7pm.

The local authority says it is hosting the event in recognition of Mr. Delap’s contribution to the community and in particular with regard to the annual Sligo to Letterkenny charity cycle which has raised over €500,000 over the last 21 years.

Since its inception the event has grown to become one of the largest events of its kind in the northwest.

It was highlighted at the last meeting of Letterkeny Town Council the event has been a huge success and was where a young Philip Deignan, now professional cyclist who has competed at the Olympics, first competed.
