A farmer threw a dead rat and bleach at his sister-in-law in a bitter family dispute, Donegal District Court has heard.
John Kerrigan (37) had previously been convicted of a Section 2 assault (not causing harm) on Noreen Kerrigan at the family farm at Cully, Donegal Town on November 22, 2011 and was in court today for sentencing.
The dispute had arisen over Mr Kerrigan’s father’s will, the court was told.
Defence solicitor Ian McKenna said the defendant and his elderly mother had since moved off the farm and there have been no incidents since.
Judge Kevin Kilrane applied the Probation of Offenders Act, meaning that if Kerrigan does not re-offend for two years, the conviction will be expunged.
