Stormy conditions overnight and this morning have left homes in the county without power and seen roads flooded by storm surges.

Met Éireann has issued an orange weather warming for the county, the second highest. Coastal areas are bearing the brunt of the latest storm with high tides causing problems.

Flooding has affected the runway at Donegal airport where this morning’s flights to and from Dublin were cancelled and the departure to Glasgow was delayed.

Storm surges caused flooding in coastal areas early this morning. There was flooding reported in the centre of Dunfanaghy, Annagry, Killybegs and the Downings and Carrigart area. Annagry’s main road was impassable this morning at one stage due to tidal flooding.

The ESB has reported power outages around the county. Almost 400 customers in Ballyshannon were without power and customers in Kilcar, Stranorlar, Newtowncunningham, Dungloe and Rossgeir were also affected.

Intense wind and rain is expected to continue throughout the morning before easing off in the afternoon.

More heavy seas are expected up until Monday.
