The search for missing toddler Madeline McCann has resumed in Portugal.
Madeline, who has strong connections to Donegal through relatives in St Johnston and in Dungloe, has not been seen since she disappeared in 2007 in Praia da Luiz while on holiday with her parents.
British police officers investigating her disappearance have been seen using spades and pitchforks in a cordoned-off area of land in Praia da Luz, on the Algarve.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police and South Wales Police joined their Portuguese counterparts in searching the section of scrubland in the resort.
The digging is at this stage is said to be small scale, and officers have been seen taking samples of rock and clay.
Madeline’s father Gerry McCann’s father John was from St Johnston, where the family owned a pub and Madeline posed for pictures outside the premises during a family holiday in 2007.
