Motorists are being advised to take care on the roads this morning and allow extra time for their journeys after snow fell overnight across the county.

Several schools across Donegal remain closed today while a number of community events have been cancelled.

More wintry showers will hit Donegal today and forecasters are predicting that storm force winds move up from the south of the country.

Counties Cork and Kerry are set to be worst hit with a Red alert warning in place for that region. Gusts of up to 160 kilometres per hour have been forecast for there this morning.

Met Eireann says these winds will bring with them more wintry showers as they move North, but they will turn to rain later this afternoon.
