Property on the move in Donegal

Speculation is rife in Donegal Town that movement may be imminent on a number of sites that were subject to controversy some years ago.

A prominent property owner confirmed that the town centre Mill Court Shopping Centre had been sold to a UK based property company for approximately €700k.

The company is owned by a Donegal man who intends refurbishing the 18 units turning them into a state-of-the-art centre in Donegal Town.

The businessman, who preferred not to be named, welcomed the move but said that it followed similiar patterns where prime property in Ireland is being bought by UK and US-based investors.

It has also been learned that two sites that were initially involved in a planning war a number of years ago are now on sale on These are presently owned by Bennett’s and are located in both the Mullans and Dromlonagher. These sites were earmarked for considerable development by Dunnes Stores and other large national brands.

The Mullans site is situated on 8.6 acres, close to the town centre and zoned for a variety of commercial uses. The site at Dromlonagher comprises 7.3 acres and is located directly adjacent to the Public Services Centre.

Local sources have commented that with the asking prices so keen these properties should see movement.
