Oisin is Ulster MATHlete Champ

Oisin Meehan, a pupil at Killian National School, Inver, Co. Donegal, has been named the top MATHlete in Ulster for 5th class students.

More than 3,000 pupils and 250 teachers have taken part in this unique new national maths competition run in association with the Khan Academy.

Oisin is one of 150 provincial final winners going forward to compete for the title of MATHletes Challenge National Champion in Dublin this Saturday.

In addition to championship titles in five categories, a total of €20,000 in prizes is also up for grabs.

Congratulations also to Leah Dolan of Cloughfin National School, who was the Ulster winner in the 6th class category and Oisin Hughes of St Columba’s College, Stranorlar, Ulster winner in the 2nd year category.

Best of luck to the other qualifiers, runners up in the Ulster finals, who will also compete at the national finals on Saturday. Aimee Doherty, Cloghfin NS; Brendan Brogan, Killian NS; Kelly Cunningham, Killian NS; Louise Hegarty, Cloughfin NS will all join Oisin Meehan in representing Donegal in the 5th class category while Cate Smith of Cloughfin NS will be in the 6th class finals.
