Fine Gael have added Bucnarana town councillor Peter McLaughlin to the party’s ticket for the county council elections in May.

Cllr. McLaughlin withdrew from a selection convention last month. He claimed he had been shafted after it emerged that independent town councillor Nicholas Crossan had been approached to run. The three sitting county councillors in Inishowen, - Bernard McGuinness, John Ryan and Mickey Doherty - were selected at the convention.

Fine Gael General Secretary, Tom Curran, said: “The Party’s Executive Council believes Fine Gael has put in place an excellent team in the Inishowen electoral area. We are very confident of success in the Local Elections to Donegal County Council.”
