A 19-year-old with a provisional licence was responsible for a bus full of pensioners ending up in a field, a court has heard.
Kevin Meehan of Thower, Inver, appeared at Donegal District Court on Monday.
He was charged with dangerous driving and driving on a provisional licence without an accompanying adult at Keeloges, Inver on June 23.
The dangerous driving charge was reduced to one of careless driving in light of his guilty plea and evidence given at court.
The defendant had only been driving a few months at the time of the incident, the court heard.
He was driving, with his younger brother a passenger, when he lost control of the car and it glanced off an oncoming bus at a bend in the road.
The bus toppled over a ditch into a field. No one was injured in the incident.
Judge Kevin Kilrane fined the defendant €300 and convicted him of careless driving.
