Over 700 cyclists crossed the Drowes this evening only to receive a real “Donegal is Happy” welcome as they arrived in the county.

The brainchild of entrepreneur Jim Breen who has been highlighting the scourge of suicide and the prevalence of depression in modern day society, the cycle which has had well over 7,000 participants since it started over a week ago.

Today the 700 cyclists braved the elements starting off in Enniscrone and eventually making their way into Donegal Town in bright sunshine.

The appearance of the sun to greet these great people was indeed symbolic as it was perhaps it was the only time it came out from behind the grey clouds today.

Jim told the Donegal Democrat at the Abbey Vocational School, “What else could we expect in Donegal - just look at the crowds and the warmth of the welcome. I believe that the community has come out and offered beds for everybody with 200 to spare-it is simply superb and all the lads and ladies are just loving every minute of it.

Let’s get the message out there - DONEGAL - it’s OK not to feel OK, just get out there and talk about it.
