Inter Provincial final to benefit a great cause

Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin launched a direct appeal to families, patients and friends throughout the country to join them for a fun filled day at the final of the 2013 M. Donnelly Interprovincial Football Final, to be held this Sunday, February 24 in Croke Park between Ulster and Leinster.

Several Donegal players will feature in this final.

The GAA is meeting all costs of staging the game to ensure that the entire proceeds from the gate will go directly to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

“We really appreciate the generosity and vision of the GAA in taking this fantastic initiative to support sick children. Between now and the final on 24th February all the staff of Croke Park are volunteering their time for free to make the event a success” said Geraldine Regan, Director of Nursing and Deputy CEO at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Crumlin Hospital is currently undertaking a major building renovation to its cardiology and oncology units. The “Fix Crumlin” campaign was launched last year to raise €8 million to renovate the hospital’s cancer and cardiac care. Since then, €4 million has been raised and building work is well underway and on target for the completion date of August, 2013.

“We’re half way there,” said Geraldine Regan. “Children from all counties on the island of Ireland get world-class care at Crumlin. They deserve quality facilities to match that care now. I am directly appealing to GAA fans and communities everywhere to come along to Croke Park on February 24th and help us achieve our goal for Ireland’s sickest children.”

The M. Donnelly Interprovincial Senior Football Final takes place in Croke Park at 3.45 pm on Sunday February 24th. An exciting curtain raiser at 2 pm will be the AIB GAA All-Ireland Junior club Championship final between Kenmare Shamrocks (Kerry) and Ballinasloe (Galway). Tickets are €10 adults and €5 children and are available at gaa.ie/tickets and usual GAA outlets.
