Homes and businesses around the county are still without power this morning following the storm that struck Donegal overnight.

More than 3,000 customers were without power this morning and at one stage more than 10,000 homes were without electricity as winds reached up to 150 km/h.

Creeslough was the worst hit area this morning with over 2,000 customers affected. Other areas that were affected on Thursday morning included Ballyshannon, Letterkenny, Bundoran, Killybegs, Buncrana, Convoy, Kilcar, Glenties, Dungloe and Milford.

ESB crews are working to restore power and expect to have all outages resolved by early afternoon.

Snow and hail has caused disruption on the roads this morning. Long tail-backs were affecting traffic travelling into Letterkenny on the N56 from Kilmacrennan and also on the Ramelton Road as snow showers became heavier by mid morning.

The unsettled weather is to continue with wintery showers and cold temperatures providing the risk of frost on Thursday night and wet and windy conditions continuing on Friday.
