Geraldine Diver has been appointed as the new principal of Abbey Vocational School in Donegal town.
Ms Diver, who is the Deputy Principal at Ballyshannon’s Coláiste Cholmcille, is a well known and hugely respected educator.
For many years Geraldine taught physical education at the Ballyshannon school and was always involved in sporting, drama and musical activities at the school and has, in her time, directed a series of hugely successful school musicals.
Ms Diver, who is married to Paul Diver, manager of the Sandhouse Hotel in Rossnowlagh, hails originally from Dublin, but her heart and soul has been immersed in this county for many, many years.
A colleague at Coláiste Cholmcille told the Donegal Democrat: “She will be a big loss here, she is a great organiser and we will miss her, but we wish her well.”
Ms. Diver succeeds Emanuelle McCormack as principal at Abbey VS which is one of the biggest schools in the county.
