Gardai in riot gear dealt with disturbance

Gardaí using riot gear had to force their way into a barricaded house in Letterkenny after responding to reports of a disturbance, a court has heard.

Furniture was thrown from the house at 72 Thornbury during the disturbance on October 13th, 2011.

A Letterkenny man has gone on trial at Letterkenny Circuit Court charged with causing criminal damage to the house.

John Boyle (25) of 14 Leck Cottages, Letterkenny denies causing criminal damage and causing a breach of the peace.

Two other men who were found hiding in the attic of the house have pleaded guilty to their part in the incident.

The trial is expected to last for two to three days.
