Five talented acts from Donegal have made it through to the Connacht/Ulster Final of this year’s Childline All Ireland Schools Talent Search.

They are: Karcona from St. Colomba’s College, Stranorlar; Gemma Porter from Finn Valley College, Stranorlar; Lauryn Mulholland from Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana; Loosechange from St. Columba’s Comprehensive, Glenties:
and Seis Alainn from Gairm Scoil Chu Uladh.

Having stood out from the rest of the competition so far, the acts are all busy rehearsing and gearing it up another notch to impress the judges again this Sunday night (January 27) at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

They’re all hoping to secure a place in the National Semi- Final, which will be in the Strand Hotel, Limerick on February 10 and ultimately make the final cut, to be one of the Top 12 acts in the National Final at
the Helix, Dublin on March 9.

Stephen Moore, of Loose Change, says the band are “very excited” to have made it this far. “

“We’re just getting started. We formed during the summer,” Stephen explained.

“We’ve had a few gigs so far and we hope that 2013 will be a good year for us.

“We entered the ‘School’s Got Talent’ show back in September and got through the first two rounds. We didn’t expect to get through the last round because the standard was so high but we chose a good song, put our own twist on it, and the judges liked it.

“We’re very excited to be in the Regional Final this Sunday.”
