A young family are too frightened to return to their home in Ballyshannon after it was burgled last night, a councllor says.
Cllr. Barry O’Neill said the incident marks “an unwelcome return of anti-social behaviour” to the Lawne Park housing estate.
He told the Democrat: “Two houses were broken into in the middle of the night, when both of the young families were at home.
“Windows were broken and the families were very, very intimidated by people coming into their homes at 3am.
“One of the families is too frightened to return to their home. They have nowhere to live and I am meeting officials from Donegal County Council this afternoon to highlight their plight.
“It’s gone beyond fear. People in Ballyshannon feel like they are being held to ransom, like they are prisoners in their own homes,” he concluded.
