Dungloe Christmas Millionaire collects winnings

A lucky young lady from Dungloe has collected an early birthday present - a cool €1,000,000 from the National Lottery.

The top prize winner in the Christmas Millionaire Raffle, who will celebrate her 25th birthday this week, called into the Dublin HQ last Friday.

“I just can’t believe it”, she smiled, as she sipped a glass of champagne with some family members at the National Lottery office.

“I checked my ticket number on my new iPhone 5 on New Year’s Day but it’s only sinking in now”.

“I got my ticket as a Christmas present with a bottle of vodka. The vodka’s long gone but the result of this ticket will last me forever and has changed my life. I intend to continue working, and go on holiday to the US, but apart from that, I’m just going to chill out and think about things’, said the lucky young lady, who did not wish to be named.

A fluent Irish speaker, she also said: “Buiochas le gach duine a ghui comhghairdeas orm”.

Her lucky ticket was purchased in Sweeney’s Newsagency in Supervalu Shopping Centre, Caramore Road, Dungloe, Co. Donegal on Saturday 15 December 2012.

Since the National Lottery was launched, over €4 billion has been raised for good causes. This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation, Amenities, Health, Welfare, Arts, Culture, National Heritage and the Irish Language.
