From Bundoran to Connemara and even across to the Parisienne streetscapes six Donegal athletes will be carrying the Donegal flag when our lads in green and gold are seeking promotion in Armagh.

Loneliness does not apply to these long distance runners who will compete at events with some of the most beautiful and interesting land and streetscapes imaginable.

Mark McGowan, Vinny Duffy, Paul McGee and Noel Hoey will all compete in Connemara, running across breath-taking terrain, with stunning views and brutal hills! For Mark and Vinny, taking on the Ultra Marathon, a distance of 63km, will be tough, but having come off a great winter’s training and with the experience of having covered the distance before, they are well ready for the challenge.

For Paul and Noel competing in the Marathon, a distance of 42km, the challenge will be no less daunting. Paul, a veteran of several marathons, can call on his experience while for Noel, this is a first marathon and what a challenge that will be!

Across on mainland Europe, in the beautiful Parisian streetscape, without the challenges of the hills of Connemara, will be Canice Nicholas and Paul McDevitt. Veterans of several marathons, Canice and Paul are looking to improve their times over the classic distance on fresh pastures, when on Sunday they toe the line for the Paris marathon.

Paddy O’Donohue of Tirconaill AC said, “The lads have all been working hard and there is no doubt that they will represent us well at the weekend - all of Tirconaill will be behind them.!”
