A Mother’s Day gift turned out to be extra special for Agnes McLaughlin;.

The mother of three from Gortnacool, Carndonagh received a scratch card as a Mother’s Day gift from her daughter Aisling.

Agnes is great fan of the National Lottery’s Winning Streak show on RTÉ and rarely misses it.

So, she was watching when her name was selected. “It was a shock but a fantastic experience,” she said.

Her big hope was to win enough to buy a car or take a holiday.

In the end, much to the joy of Agnes, her husband of 38 years Brian and their three daughters Aisling, Caroline and Eimear, she did much more than that.

Agnes won an Opel Insignia car worth €30,000 and a number of other prizes, bringing the total value of her winnings to €45,000.

She’s well known in Carndonagh, having worked in Global Fashion for a number of years.

Her winning ticket was bought at Canny & Doherty’s Supermarket, Carndonagh.

Hopefully Donegal will ‘do the double’ this week, as Michael Gallagher Jr from Inver will be one of the participants on the programme.
