Last weekend the North East coast of the United Sates was enveloped in a blanket of snow as Nemo struck with a vengeance with the biggest snowfall since 1978.
In some places snowfalls of 24 inches were recorded bringing the normal leafy city to a total standstill.
Two Donegal residents were there in the thick of the blizzard conditions but making the Most of it.
Letterkenny’s Neilus McDaid who lives in the city was well prepared with his almost alien - like suit clearing the snow around his home - obviously the now Boston resident was well prepared. Neilus is a brother of the Donegal Democrat’s photographer, Brian who resides in a slightly warmer Letterkenny.
One less prepared Donegal man was slightly less prepared however. Barry Monaghan from Donegal Town is presently out on a break and while he had his winter wardrobe, he did not expect snow drifts of such magnitude.
Monaghan (right) the well known footballer for both club and county, took it all in his stride saying “ Here I am in Boston looking out at a raging snow blizzard - city has come to a standstill and they reckon there will be 30 inches of snow before tomorrow morning. “The whole city is shut down - I think I’m going to have great difficulty getting a carrot for the snowman that I just managed to finish!”
The blizzard has since abated and both Donegal men are slowly getting back to normal with Monaghan enjoying all that the beautiful city has to offer.
