The Great Irish Bake-Off hits our TV screens tonight, and a top chef from Ballyshannon will be right in the middle of it all.
Paul Kelly is an award-winning pastry chef who currently works at The Merrion Hotel in Dublin. He, along with renowned cookery writer Biddy White Lennon, is judging the competitors in Ireland’s ultimate baking battle.
Hundreds applied, and the two judges have whittled them down to the final twelve.
Over eight episodes, the passionate amateur bakers will sift, stir, mix and ice their way through challenges that will confuse, enlighten and certainly push their culinary skills to the limit. “I am going to be very fair,” Paul says. “But at the end of the day, I can’t change who I am when I critique.”

The Great Irish Bake-Off, presented by Anna Nolan, starts tonight at 9pm on TV3. Tonight’s challenge is all about cakes. Yum!
