Don’t ‘Neknominate’, donate a pint

Ian Daniel Molloy is calling on young people to support the #NekDonate campaign.

Ógra Fianna Fáil has launched a campaign to discourage young people from taking part in the drinking game NekNominate.

The organisation is urging young people to save a life by donating a pint of blood, instead of risking their own safety by participating in the latest online craze known as ‘Neknomination’.

Over the past week it has become increasingly apparent that more and more young people are risking their own safety to outdo each other with increasingly outrageous drinking scenarios, a spokesperson said.

Donegal South West Ógra Chairperson Ian Daniel Molloy told the Democrat: “We are asking people to save a life, and not to risk your own. We are encouraging young people to donate a pint of blood and save a person in need.”

Since launching the campaign last night (Monday), hundreds of people have shared the “Don’t Neck a Pint, Donate a Pint” slogan.

You can follow the campaign on Twitter #NekDonate.

Check if you are eligible to give blood and to find your nearest donor clinic at {http://www.giveblood.ie.www.giveblood.ie\}

If you are not eligible to give blood, please make your contribution by carrying out another act of kindness.
