There was great sadness across Donegal this week at news of the sudden death on Sunday of John Slevin of Ardeevin, Barnesmore.

The immensely popular owner of Biddy O’Barnes pub, who was aged 71, will be laid to rest tomorrow (Thursday) following 11am Requiem Mass in St Agatha’s Church, Clar.

Charlie Martin, a relation, described him as “a gentleman and a top class friend”. He added: “What John was most noted for was his decency. He was very mildly spoken and a friend to all.

Hundreds have been making their way to Ardeevin to pay their respects this week and many more are expected to attend the funeral tomorrow.

Heartfelt condolences are extended to John’s wife Kate, daughter Melissa, sons Darrell and Aaron, brothers Eamonn and PC, sisters Josephine and Mary, and other relations.
