News of the sudden death of Brendan Ryan from Raphoe has been met with shock and sadness across the county.
Brendan was best known for his involvement with Raphoe Boxing Club, of which he was a founding member along with Peter O’Donnell and Tommy Stewart in 1988.
He passed away on Wednesday.
Earlier this week he had attended the Milk Cup soccer tournament in the North where his grandson, Jordan, is part of the Donegal Schools squad.
Brendan (67), worked with Donegal County Council and retired two years ago.
His son Danny is also very well known in boxing circles and was Irish middleweight champion in 1993.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed.
