Belleek road death: man released

A man gardai were questioning following a road death near Belleek on Sunday has been released without charge.

Patrick John McCafferty, a native of Belault, Pettigo was living at Tullycurry Road, off the Belleek to Pettigo road.

He died on the Tullycurry Road, a short distance from his home, after being struck by a car at around 2.50am on Sunday.

The PSNI issued an appeal for information and said they were looking for blue Ford Focus with front end damage in relation to the incident.

Gardai detained a man, aged in his 40s, in Pettigo on Sunday afternoon. He was brought and detained him for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. The man was released without charge last night.

A garda spokesperson said a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
