The streets of Dungloe were thronged on Saturday night to welcome Majella O’Donnell on to the stage for the opening of this year’s Mary from Dungloe Festival.

Normally her husband Daniel takes the limelight but as the man himself said, “Tonight I’m playing second fiddle, carrying the bags and the flowers.

“Joking aside I am just so proud of her tonight after all we have all come through - she really is an inspiration to us all.”

Majella who was looking like her old self again said that this festival was part of Dungloe’s tradition.
“I might be a blow - in from Tipperary but don’t ever let this festival go - it is part of our tradition. It’s all about having fun, realaxing and staying safe - something we can all bring into our lives.”
