€516,250 funded for Donegal Piers

Dinny McGinley, TD., Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has welcomed the news by his colleague Simon Coveney TD Minister for Agriculture, Marine and Food, that €516,250 in total funding is to be allocated to Donegal for its piers and harbours.

Welcoming the news, Minister McGinley commented that “the money will be used to boost marine and leisure tourism and for the ongoing maintenance and development of piers and harbours which in turn will be a boost for local communities and economies”.

The following Piers and harbours will receive a total of €258,750 of that allocation, the projects are set out below.

The balance will be met by the local authorities. Burtonport, €100,000; Rannagh (Construct Pier Wall) €25,000; Curransport, €10,000; Inishbofin Island, €30,000; Teelin, €80,000; Mountcharles, €100,00.
