The funeral took place in St. Eunan’s Cathedral on Saturday morning of Catherine ‘Cassie’ McArt, 8 Ard Colmcille, Letterkenny.

A kind, caring and popular neighbour and friend, Cassie died peacefully at her home on Thursday. She was 94.

Predeceased by her husband Pat in January 2007, Cassie (nee McGhee from Drumoghill) was a much loved person who, like her late husband, will be sadly missed.

The readings at the Mass were by her sons Hughie and Brian while the gifts were brought to the altar by her daughters-in-law. The prayers of the faithful were delivered by some of Cassie’s grandchildren while Cassie’s daughter-in-law, Rosie and Carmel O’Reilly were the soloists, accompanied by organist, Jim Mailey. Burial took placed afterwards in the family plot at Conwal.

Cassie is survived by her sister Lizzie McGhee, Ard Colmcille; daughters, Margaret McClafferty and Mary McMenamin; sons, John, Adrian, Hughie, Pat and Brian, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, other relatives and friends to whom sympathy is extended.
