In today’s Donegal People’s Press we report that Irish Water has moved to reassure the public in the Letterkenny area that there is no health risk from the drinking water supply after a local councillor claimed the utility is “not treating health risks associated with the main Letterkenny supply”.

Letterkenny councillor Dessie Shields made the comments as he claimed there will be a three and a half year wait to resolve serious problems with the drinking water supply in Letterkenny, Churchill and Rathmullan.

The Letterkenny Water Supply Scheme has been placed on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) drinking water remedial action list due to excessive levels of Trihalomethanes (THMs).
