Four representatives each from the Butt Drama Circle and Letterkenny Music and Drama Group enjoyed an afternoon at a Garden Party at Áras an Uachtaráin hosted by President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina.
The President invited representatives from all the drama groups in the country and the four from the Butt Drama Circle were officers, Eddie Flanagan, Eddie Mulligan, Kathleen McGowan and Jack Quinn.
Pluincéad Ó Fearraigh, Roisin Ui Fhearraigh, Olivia Wilson and Kieran Kelly from the Letterkenny Music and Drama Group also attended.
It was a beautiful sunny day and those present were invited to explore the gardens and public rooms of the Aras.
After music on the lawn, all repaired to a large marquee for more music food and wine.
The M.C. was Aonghus McAnally who spoke much of his father Ray McAnnally and his mother Ronnie Masterson. The President addressed the gathering and spoke of his days as an amateur actor. He commended the Drama movement for their contribution and importance to their local communities. it was a great opportunity to meet up with old friends from all around the country from Cork to Glenamaddy, Kildare and Lifford, to connect again with friends from the Drama Festival Circuit and Summer Drama School.
