West Donegal was in total shock as the news emerged of the death of one of the most popular young women in the county.
Diane Byrne from Annagry, who was 37, passed way suddenly on Wednesday morning.
Her death has brought the people of the Rosses and much further afield to a standstill, as they try to come to terms with the sudden death of the popular young woman.
Diane was a highly respected staff member of Donegal County Council and worked in the Public Services Centre in Dungloe. She was well-known and respected in every corner of the county and she often modelled at charity fundraising fashion shows.
Her interests were all encompassing and indeed in recent years she competed in 5k and 10k races and completed a race up Errigal.
A friend of the family, Pat the Cope Gallagher, said: “Diane was simply a stunning person. Everybody in the county who had the privilege of knowing her is just speechless. We are lost for words.”
Diane is survived by her parents Dee and Noreen and sister Andrea.
