There were tears of joy in the Quays Pub in Galway when Ballyshannon chanteuse Farrah Bogle qualified for next Wednesday’s final of TG4’s Glór Tire competition.
Indeed it was a roller coaster of an evening where Farrah was just narrowly pipped at the polls for the first two slots but qualified for the “sing-off”.
In true Donegal spirit Farrah mesmerised the huge live television audience and those at the venue with spell binding live performances in Irish and English.
The managing director of Gael Media Christy King who produces the successful show said, “Farrah just sang her heart out and gave it everything - she is a very deserving finalist and without a doubt is a great talent.
“It’s all up to Donegal now - get in there behind her with your votes.” said the former Udaras na Gaeltachta executive.
Having lost her father, Phonsie, a well known singer in the Ballyshannon/Belleek area who died last year, Farrah’s first number saw her play with her late father’s guitar.
“I just brought it with me - I knew that if things got tough that Dad would be with me - he would guide me through and indeed he did,” she said.
Farrah now needs every last single vote to make history for Donegal so get those mobile phones out there and start texting.
