The public health nurse has been informed that the position on Arranmore has been made safe.
More than 160 Arranmore residents attended an emergency meeting at the island’s community centre on Saturday night in response to Health Service Executive (HSE) plans to replace the public-health nurse on the island with a part-time community nurse.
The group sought meetings with locals TDs and public representatives in a bid to garner support to stop the move.
Speaking this morning, local island activist, Jerry Early said that communities should come together to make their voices heard.
The action group will release a statement in afternoon when all facts are established.
