Family, friends and hundreds of other mourners said good-bye yesterday to the 89-year-old woman who was attacked in a raid at her home.
“What those despicable people did is directly responsible for Susie’s death,” said Canon David Crooks at the funeral service for Susan Arthur at Taughboyne parish church. “Otherwise, she could have expected to live on another few years, well into her nineties.” Mourners filled the church, with dozens more gathered outside and in the adjacent graveyard.
Ms Arthur was hospitalised after she was thrown to the ground by a gang who burgled the Feddyglass home she shared with her sister, Isobel, 91, at about 5pm on July 1st. She never left hospital after the attack.
