A case against a former traffic warden who is charged with harassing and stalking her successor was adjourned for legal consideration at this week’s sitting of Donegal District Court.

Patricia McCafferty of Main St. Bundoran was charged with harassing and stalking Eddie Duffy of Convoy between April 17 and September 16, 2012 at Finner and Drumacrin.

Ms. McCafferty, who defended herself, told the court that she recorded Mr. Duffy carrying out his duties and posted clips of him on YouTube after hearing complaints about him when she had been a candidate in both the local and County Council elections.

In direct evidence, Mr. Duffy told Judge Mary Devins that while the matter had been ongoing since 2007, the first occasion that he reported it to Gardaí was in April 2012

Judge Devins said that the case had raised some “interesting issues” in relation to questions of privacy, the duty of public officials and rights of the public involved as well as the alleged abuse of public officials in carrying out their duties.

The udge adjourned the case for mention at Ballyshannon District Court on February 7 next to consider the legal issues raised and invited both Ms. McCafferty and Mr. Duffy to submit any further arguments if they so wished.
