Ireland’s largest bookmaker Paddy Power was smelling of roses this week as he offered a charity bet to Donegal Rose and company employee Catherine McCarron ahead of this month’s Rose Of Tralee.

Catherine, who works as a HR Operations Specialist for Paddy Power is 16/1 to win the pageant and stands to make €8,000 for children’s charity Barretstown should she be crowned the next Rose of Tralee.

Paddy Power lent his support to his employee this week when he said: “The Texas Rose may be the favourite but we’re all weighing in behind our girl Catherine. She’s a credit to the company and Donegal and we have no doubt that she’ll do everyone proud on the night.”

Educated at St Eunan’s Nationa School and Deele College in Raphoe, Catherine graduated from University of Ulster with honours in Human Resource Management.

She is an avid Donegal fan. Her hobbies include traveling the world, listening to music, cooking and enjoying food.

She embarked on her first trip alone at the age of 16 when she represented Ireland as Entrepreneur of the year at the worldwide Canjac conference in Canada.
