A €5m Primary Care health centre and office accommodation complex will go ahead in Ballyshannon, with work expected to start this year.
The Donegal Democrat can reveal that the Primary Care project, on the long finger for a decade, is now, according to a reliable source: “good to go”.
Official confirmation from the HSE is expected in due course, but a source told this newspaper: “We will have people on the site by October/November this year - there’ll be bricks there by then.”
The project is estimated to be valued at over €5million and will see the old Mercy Convent boarding school linked via a new corridor with the St Catherine’s Convent building. It is also proposed to develop suitable accommodation for the delivery of other HSE services within the former convent building. This part of the development will be refurbished in a sympathetic manner, with due consideration to the listed status of the building.
