The King of Tory Island, Patsy Dan Rodgers says the Duchess of Cambridge would be very welcome on Tory Island.

The beauty formerly known as Kate Middleton met Greencastle native Paul Gill when she launched the Royal Princess cruise liner in June. He works on the ship. He told Peninsula People magazine she came to the bridge to meet the ships officers and, noticing his badge with the Irish Tricolour asked him where he was from.

He recalled: “When I told her I was from Donegal, she said ‘I hear it is lovely, I would love to visit there some day’.”

Patsy Dan Rodgers commented: “She’d very welcome on Tory Island. Why not? Ireland and England are closer than they’ve been in a long time. We had an increased number of English visitors this year and we’d love to see more.”
