Local councillors were less than pleased when they were presented with preliminary designs for a new bridge at Fintra on Tuesday.
The issue was raised at the Donegal Electoral Area Committee Meeting.
Donal Murphy, Road Design Office, talked through the options and recommended a wider bridge than initially envisaged.
He said it would cost €1m.
Cllr. John Boyle said the proposed bridge was “far to elaborate” and the council “would not get €1m”.
“We agreed last year that this bridge would be ready to go to shovel stage by now,” Cllr. Brendan Byrne stated.
It was agreed to put in temporary measures and to complete Part VIII and Sec. 50 stages by January so that funding could be sought for 2014.
