Elderly sisters targeted in Raphoe burglary

Gardai are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary at the home of two elderly Raphoe sisters yesterday afternoon (Monday).

Gardai are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary at the home of two elderly Raphoe sisters yesterday afternoon (Monday).

One of the women was knocked to the ground and had to be hospitalised and treated for shock following their ordeal.

Gardai say that at around 5pm on Monday evening, three man called to the home of the sisters, who are aged in their 80s and 90s, at Freddyglass, Raphoe.

They believe the men were driving an Northern Ireland or English-registered silver Ford Focus, which had been seen acting suspiciously in the area earlier in the day.

The gang made off with money and jewellery.

They also cut the phone line and locked the elderly victims inside as they made their escape.
