Donegal company tops tax defaulters list

In a week in which tax defaults have dominated the national media, a Donegal fishing company has been listed as having made the largest tax settlement in the country – over 3.3 million euro – with the Revenue Commissioners in their quarterly defaulters list, published this week.

O’Shea Fishing of Fintra Road, Killybegs made the settlement of 3,390,304 euro for the underdeclaration of corporation tax and PAYE/PRSI after an offshore assets investigation case - beating the embattled Wexford TD Mick Wallace to the top spot on the list.

There was a total of 15 Donegal names on the defaulters list for the period beginning on 1 January, 2012 and ending 31 March, 2012. Six of these made settlements, five were on it because they failed to lodge VAT returns, while the remaining four had their names listed for the misuse of marked oil.

The following are the Donegal names which appeared on both part one and part two of the list.
