One of Donegal’s youngest and fastest growing companies has this week been judged as one of Ireland’s best managed companies by a leading international business consultancy firm.

This newspaper can exclusively reveal that Deloitte in association with Irish Life Corporate Business has chosen Cara Pharmacies Ltd. which has branches in both Donegal Town and Bundoran as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies, an award which recognises indigenous Irish companies across Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of performance.

Kevin Sheehan, Partner, Deloitte said: “We are delighted with the calibre of companies who have participated in this competition to find the best managed companies in the country.

“As we engaged more and more with the companies in the programme, we were enthused and impressed by the level of commitment, innovation and dedication that management teams are demonstrating. The competition was intense.

The Gala Awards Cermony will take place tomorrow evening in The Burlington Hotel with guest speaker, Minister for Enterprise, Richard Bruton TD.

Cara who just last year opened their group headquarters in Ballyshannon have presently two branches in the county and have also established successful outlets in counties Cavan, Sligo, Leitrim and more recently in Fermanagh.

Ramona Nicholas of Cara Pharmacies told the Donegal Democrat at the time that they were nominated, “We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted in this prestigious awards catergory - in truth this is a tribute to the many members of our team at Cara who are dedicated to providing the best possible care and service to our customers.”

She remained tight-lipped however as to whether they had won the award but sources well placed within the financial sector have indeed confirmed that the Donegal company has won the award.

The company are at the final stages of establishing another branch in the west of the county believed to be in Killybegs and presently employ more than 100 people.

“Our ethos has always been about giving the customers what they want and we constantly strive to work and improve on this in terms of customer care, product, value and a commitment to excellence - what we ourselves call ‘the Ultimate Cara experience’.

“In business today I suppose the best award anybody can get is to see a happy customer return time after time!”
