Man sent for trial over multiple sex offences

A Book of Evidence has been served on a 65-year-old West Donegal man who appeared before yesterday’s sitting of Glenties District Court.

A Book of Evidence has been served on a 65-year-old West Donegal man who appeared before yesterday’s sitting of Glenties District Court.

He was charged with a number of sexual offences which are alleged to have taken place over an eight year period.

The man is charged with a total of 32 counts of indecent assault between October 1977 and November 1985 against against three injured

parties.

Garda Gerard Dalton told the court that he had served a Book of Evidence on the accused, who cannot be named, early on Wednesday morning at Mill Road in Glenties

Supt. Michael Finan told Judge Paul Kelly that the Director of Public Prosecutions had ruled that the defendant be tried at the next sitting

of Donegal Circuit Court on March 27.

Judge Kelly released the defendant on bail on condition that he surrender his passport and make no application for any travel documents, that he sign twice weekly at Glenties Garda Station and that he make no contact directly or indirectly with any of the witnesses or alleged injured parties.
