One of Ireland’s top hoteliers is presently recovering in hospital in Thailand after contracting a bad bout of influenza.

Ballyshannon man Jim White who owns both the Abbey and Central Hotels in Donegal town as well as others in Co. Clare had been holidaying in Thailand with his family when he contracted the bug and went to hospital as a precautionary measure.

A member of the White family told the Donegal Democrat, “I am delighted to say that my father is making a great recovery, sitting up in bed and just waiting to get home to our Irish weather!

“He caught a touch of the ‘flu and just to be on the safe side took medical advice and went to hospital. He has made a great recovery and we would expect him back home within the next week where I’m sure he’ll back at the forefront as usual.”
